Cooperation
Solertia works through partnerships, formal and informal, with other organizations or individuals from the public sector, civil society and private sector. Solertia offers interested organizations and individuals various avenues and capacities in which to cooperate directly with Solertia and its programs and other related initiatives. Please be sure to contact us, preferably by e-mail to info@solertia.org, to pursue any collaboration opportunities you may be interested in.
Organizations
Solertia is particularly interested in collaborations where one or more other organizations promote the overall Solertia program or complement the approach. The commonality between organizations should lie in some shared objectives. For example the collaboration could be in conceptual planning and implementation of joint ventures or programs, with each organization contributing in their areas of specialty.
Working in a proactive manner, Solertia also promotes and facilitates the creation of new and effective development partnerships between third parties, such as between local communities and external organizations to meet the needs of the communities participating in Solertia's programs.
Individual Volunteers
There are a number of avenues and opportunities for individuals to contribute to or through the Solertia programs.
- The Integrated Community Development (ICD) programs may be able to use help from experienced people "on the ground" in specific locations or regions if you live, or will spend a significant amount of time, in a developing area. In addition, the initiatives that result from the implementation of an ICD program (like the CDG) or support it (like the DIR) are intended to harness the knowledge and energy of volunteers wherever they may be.
- The Community Development Gateway (CDG) is the electronic portal to all information relevant to the development needs of a particular community. Each such CDG is a web site that requires coordination and maintenance, and the templates for the CDG also need to be maintained, customized, and extended with new kinds and sources of information. If you have skills in web site management, remote workgroup coordination, interfacing with external data sources (for example, weather information, disaster planning information, government databases, etc.) or other similar areas, we would like to discuss how you could be involved in this work.
- The Development Information Resource (DIR) is planned to be an open knowledge sharing database promoted and guided by Solertia based on the collaboration of thousands of skilled volunteers collecting and developing practical technical and operational information for local community use throughout the globe. Solertia is looking for people to do knowledge acquisition and digestion, to form an interest group, or to contribute content to areas of the DIR system. Together with others, volunteers working on common issues throughout the world and coming up with pragmatic solutions contribute to the DIR portal. Solertia ensures that these solutions are delivered to the people who need them. Any materials contributed to this system must be freely usable by all, although the source of contributions will, of course, always be acknowledged.
